My name is Stephenie. I’m the mother to one wonderful little boy (Keagan, born April 12th, 2007) and a beautiful little girl (Eden, born March 29, 2009.)
I am married to the love of my life, Nick. We recently made a move to Tacoma, WA and are enjoying a life that’s a little more urban for now. I dream of one day living on the coast or maybe on farm. A farm on the coast? Sounds like heaven.
My interests include photography, attachment parenting, home schooling, thrifting, crafting, my faith and my family.
As it turns out, I am kind of a hippie. Never thought it would happen. Before our son was born, Nick and i were very “main stream.” Then, Keagan’s traumatic birth, filled with unneeded and often not asked for interventions hit us like a ton of bricks. Because of those interventions, our son spent the first 11 days of his life in a hospital, nine those in the NICU. His brain has scarring on it that will never go away. He will always be at risk for seizures and seizure disorders.
Of course, this all made us question the medical community, which leads you to start questioning more. Before I knew it we were nursing Keagan well into toddlerhood, co-sleeping, practicing gentle discipline, cutting out processed foods as much as we could and giving birth to our our sweet little girl in the comfort of our home….and the list just grows and grows. Who knew that two very mainstream people would turn into “those parents” that everyone thinks are kind of odd? Not us.
We now try to live as natural a life as possible, just taking life as it comes and enjoying what really matters. We try to live simply and thank our Creator for what we have. We’ve realized what matters in life, and it is not “stuff.” We are followers of Christ and this, too drives our lifestyle. We’re learning and changing and I hope you enjoy learning about our family here.
